Scholarship PresentationThe International President decides on a theme each year. This year it was "Be the Inspiration". Our club awarded these scholarships to Dane Smitz, Trey Heliin, Jessica Disney & Lindsay Lewandowski with the hope that they go out into the world and be the inspiration.  |
Check presentationJim Anderson (Roscommon Rotary President) and Jackie Bertsch (Roscommon Rotary Foundation Chair) presented Deb Rosczyk (Roscommon County Literacy Council) with a $3,000 donation for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Reading Program. The Literacy Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy in Roscommon County. Their major functions include: tutoring adults and children of all ages, mentoring children in the elementary schools, Books for Babes program (new books and materials are given to all new mothers at Grayling Mercy Hospital), and serving as an affiliate for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (all children enrolled in this program ages 1 – 5 receive one book per month – 60 books in all). Roscommon Rotary is part of a worldwide Rotary organization made up of committed community leaders who are working towards improving local and global communities. They utilize funds from their 3 annual fundraisers to promote programs and Non Profit Organizations in the local community. Their next fundraiser is the Higgins Lake Sunrise Run on Saturday, June 15th. (pictured starting at left is Jim Anderson, Deb Rosczyk and Jackie Bertsch)  |
Christmas in the Village Our Rotarians "Ringing the Bell" during "Christmas in the Village" to collect money for the First Congregational Church Community Food Pantry. Thank you to all who participated. In total, we collected approximately $921.00.  A picture of the train bringing Santa Claus to "Christmas in the Village". A big thank you as well to the Lake State Railroad. |

Roscommon County Habitat for HumanityRoscommon Interactors at the groundbreaking ceremony for a new home to be built through Roscommon County Habitat for Humanity. Roscommon Interactors will team up with students from the Houghton Lake Interact Club and work with a licensed contractor to help build the three-bedroom home in Roscommon. The students are excited to work on this project and believe it is an excellent example of Rotary’s motto: Service Above Self. The foundation is now completed and the floors will be constructed in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for progress updates! HIGGINS FOUNDATION – Roscommon Rotary donated $5,000 to the Higgins Lake DASH boat to assist with the cleanup of invasive plant growth from the bottom of the lake.
